3 Reasons You May Need To Call A Plumber

If the plumbing in your home is not working correctly, it can create a lot of problems throughout the house. Getting some professional help from a professional plumber might be the best option if you are not able to deal with the problem yourself. In some cases, the solution to the problem is something as simple as cleaning a drain, but some situations require a plumbing professional and the right tools to correct.

Slow Drains

A slow drain may not be an emergency, but if the issue with the drain is not corrected, it can become a much larger problem. A slow drain is typically an indication that there is an obstruction in the drain and the water is having trouble moving around the blockage. Over time, the drain will continue to slow as more debris accumulates at the obstruction point and the drain stops working altogether. The solution is removing the obstruction, but it may require using a snake to clear the drain or having a plumber open the line and manually clear it.

Broken or Leaking Pipes

If you have a pipe that is leaking in your home, correcting the problem should be a priority. If the pipe continues leaking, the water may cause damage to the home or allow mold to grow because of the constantly wet conditions. A broken pipe is not something you can put off, but a leaking one might go undetected if it is not letting water leak into areas that you are commonly in. The most common places to have leaks is around drains and the pipes that bring the water to sinks, tubs, and toilets. While a pipe can start leaking at any joint along its path, it is less likely because the joints are soldered or glued together, depending on the material the pipe is made from.

Backed Up Plumbing

If you notice water backing up into a drain in your home when you run water down another drain, it is possible that you have a mainline obstruction. The water can not drain out the main line to the sewer system, and since it has to go somewhere, it backs up through the open drains in the home. The causes of this kind of obstruction can be a broken line underground, roots or other organic material in the line, or an object that is blocking the line inside the pipe. No matter the cause, if your drains are backing up, you need to have a plumber come out and evaluated the issue right away. Not only can this make it hard to use the water in your home, but it can also be unhealthy as the water in the drain can have bacteria in it that you do not want in your home.
