Adding A Skating Area To Your Park

If you are in charge of the recreation committee for your local park, you will want to make sure that you have entertaining rides and attractions that townsfolk can enjoy in your playground area. If you are considering adding a skateboard park to your lineup, you will want to map out the area so it will have the best features while keeping people safe while using it. Here are some ideas for your use when constructing a skating area in your park.

Mapping Out The Area

You will need to determine how much space you are allotting for the addition of a skate park so you can start the construction project. Make sure you get the proper permits needed for doing the construction before starting. Map the perimeter of the entire area with stakes so you are sure where you want a flooring to be placed. You can install a chain link fence around the perimeter so that skaters will be safe from outside traffic. Make sure there is extra room around the staked area to place bleachers or benches when you have completed the project.

Placing The Asphalt

Have an asphalt service pour an asphalt surface for the flooring of your skate park. They can use the stakes as guidelines to place wood or cement blocks to be used for a border of the area. Then then can lay the asphalt within the border. Make sure the asphalt is completely hardened and cured before working any further on the project.

Asphalt can be painted with special paint to spruce up the area. You can make guidelines for certain areas or color the asphalt in fun colors to make it look festive. Placing a town emblem or the name of the park on the asphalt would be nice, as well.

Installing Props

Order some skateboard props from a professional supplier to give your riders things to practice with. Plastic slide looking pieces can be used as ramps and for jumps. Install rails in one area of the skate park for beginning skaters to use while learning. You can have a flat area to be used by people with roller skates and roller blades and make another area on the other side for people who want to use skateboards.

Make sure the pieces are colorful so they will be seen from a distance when skateboarding. This will allow the users to determine the distance needed to make jumps or to do special moves. You can install a rental area where you can keep roller skates and spare skateboards for people who do not own any of their own. For a small fee you will be able give everyone in the community a chance to try out the new park. For more information, visit http://www.phend-brown.com.
